Seth Burrows, author of “The Driver’s Seat,” joined Kilmeade & Friends to talk about people quitting their jobs in droves to get to the bike path.

“Well you can’t do that in Canada so you have to have an Uber or get a bike or even maybe ride your bike around your neighborhood and see how many traffic light you can get, you have to get the bike, you’re going to have to carry it with you, so there’s not that many bike paths in Toronto.”

Burrows suggested adding transit options or clear zoning to further encourage people to use alternatives to their car.

“People find the environment more interesting, more visually appealing.”

When asked why it was such a trend to get a divorce when it comes to work, Burrows revealed that getting divorced is easier than getting the job that you want.

“If you really want to get a position in London or San Francisco or New York or somewhere like that, it takes an awful lot of time, it takes an awful lot of effort, it takes a lot of effort to win over people, to get an interview. In theory there is less time to get a divorce in Toronto than it is in Chicago where I live. I don’t have a lot of hope for marriage again in the next few years so I feel like it is more efficient.”

Burrows talked about the driver’s seat becoming available to people in creating more options.

“I think the cars and the drives that people see with people driving the beat-up cars with illegal cracks in the sides or even engines in holes. Those are for people who really don’t have a choice but to drive a lot, but I think more and more people are realizing that they actually can have a life and have a quality of life in another city than driving to work every day.”
