Changes to apply for US citizenship

FYI

Registered voters that are US citizens currently living outside the United States can officially register to vote during the midterm elections in November.

What’s it take to become a US citizen?

You have to have been a permanent resident or lawful permanent resident of the United States for at least five years and intend to stay in the US for the duration of your five-year right to remain. You also need to meet the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services requirements to be a citizen if you were born outside the United States. There are certain requirements if you were born abroad.

And where do I apply for US citizenship?

Visit USCIS (USCIS) online or at the nearest Citizenship and Immigration Services field office. No prior service is required to apply to become a US citizen. You must be 18 years old by the time you’re sworn in to the United States.
