This program gives an up-close look at current developments in Latin America from an all-day studio show and those from around the world. Hosted by Meir Peskin, the program includes special correspondents and specialists who report from region and have global reach. The program will broadcast day and night from Monday to Thursday at 4:15 p.m. EDT.
In addition to work in CNN en Español, Meir Peskin also has appeared on “Fox News Sunday” on Fox News Channel and “This Week” on ABC. Prior to joining CNN, he worked at Noticias Telemundo and Grupo Televisa, the biggest broadcaster in Latin America. Meir graduated from the University of Santiago de Chile and Duke University’s journalism school. He is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese and French.
Katia Garcia-Vigna has been a CNN correspondent in Latin America since 1999. She previously worked for the BBC, NBC News, Univision and Panorama, as well as CNBC TV, in which she served as a correspondent. She was one of the first foreign journalists to attend Chile’s 2010 referendum on a new constitution and later was a producer for “Real News Tonight,” an independent investigative news show, on the English-language version of Telemundo. She graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a bachelor’s degree in International Business and Economics. She holds a master’s degree in mass communication from Southern Illinois University and is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
Alina Vives Carcamo is a host for CNN en Español, best known to American audiences for her reporting in Venezuela. Previously, she worked for Venevision, Univision and Univision’s flagship morning show, “Despierta America.” Alina graduated from the CUNY Graduate Center, New York, School of Communication, with an English-language degree in international relations. Alina is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese and French. She is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists, and her magazine profile in the 1997 edition of “Melodía” was published in the Spanish edition of “El Diario”.
Eric Garris is a top anchor for CNN en Español and anchor of his show “Top Secret Politics” at 5 p.m. ET. Most recently, he has reported for the network from Israel during the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in 2012, and from Moscow for the conflict over Ukraine. Previously, he was a correspondent for Fox News Channel. He is fluent in Spanish, Hebrew and Russian. He attended Saint Rose College of Saint Rose, in Albany, New York, where he studied Communication, French and Spanish, and graduated with a B.A. from the State University of New York, New Paltz.
Rey Pérez-Cervantes is a correspondent and anchor for CNN en Español in Washington, D.C. He was previously with Telemundo, where he was a correspondent and anchor. He also served as chief news anchor at “Videolicio Telemundo 54” on the local Univision station in Miami. Rey is fluent in Spanish, English and Portuguese.
