In a roundtable interview with reporters at the White House, Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., who leads the House Freedom Caucus, predicted that Donald Trump will run for president again in 2024.
“I will say this, if Trump goes to re-election — which I don’t think he will — but if he runs, in my opinion, the majority leader of the House, Kevin McCarthy, will not be chairman of the majority,” said the former congressman, referring to the person who heads the party in the House. “He will be the Republican nominee. He’s going to be the nominee. It won’t be me, but Donald Trump is not going to have another chance to run this nation.”
Asked if he thought Trump would run, Mr. Meadows replied: “I do. I’ll give you more evidence — he’s in.”
Mr. Meadows added: “I know how President Trump works, and when he has a mission to achieve, he will not give up. If there’s someone who will not do it, it will be someone that Donald Trump wins over with a loyalty and love of country.”
